A Really Unusual Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver String Holder crafted by the respected silversmiths Deakin & Francis in 1901. Designed in the form of a polished orb on elegant tripod legs, the string holder opens into two halves, with the string feeding neatly through a central guide hole.
The top of the string holder features a small integrated cutting edge, allowing the string to be easily trimmed without the need for scissors. Discreetly mounted between the two decorative uprights, it adds a practical element to the elegant design - a clever Edwardian touch blending form and function. Both decorative and utilitarian, it would have originally graced a desk or sewing room, offering a touch of sophistication to everyday tasks. Hallmarked for Birmingham, 1901.
