A Superb Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Tea Caddy of bold rococo-revival design. This magnificent piece embodies the opulence and flamboyance of the late 19th century, with a design that is both decorative and functionally refined.
The body is of bombé rectangular form, the gently curving panels richly ornamented with high-relief scrollwork cartouches in a flamboyant rocaille style, all characteristic of the Rococo revival movement that swept through decorative arts in the mid-to-late Victorian period. The front and back feature large, blank shield-shaped cartouches framed by florid acanthus leaf scrolls, perfect for monogramming or presentation inscriptions, though delightfully left unengraved.
* The piece has a pleasing, substantial feel in the hand and a good silver weight; weighing in at approximately 308g.
Measurements:
Height: 6" (approx. 15cm)

In good condition – showing only minimal signs of use consistent with age. The hinge remains robust and closes securely. No significant dents, repairs, or structural issues are visible. A beautifully preserved and highly decorative example of fine English silver.
