A Really Stunning Pair of Antique French Figural Candlesticks cast in bronze with partial silver plating, these elegant pieces feature finely sculpted cherubic figures holding overflowing baskets of grapes and vines. Signed by the renowned sculpture F. Barbedienne, they represent a beautiful marriage of artistry and craftsmanship. With contrasting bronze and silvered finishes, they offer a rich visual texture and a timeless classical appeal. Selective silver plating highlights the vines, grapes, and facial details of the figures, creating a rich contrast between matte bronze and bright silver tones – circa 1860.
* Each candlestick is sculpted in the form of a nude cherub (putto) balancing a fruit-laden basket above their head - symbolizing abundance and innocence.
