A Stunning Antique Victorian Silver Plated Tea Caddy enriched with dense foliate engraving in a Rococo Revival taste, contrasted against polished plain panels. The body has a confident bombe form raised on four ornate scroll feet, giving it a sculptural, furniture-like presence. The lid is stepped and domed with an elegant finial, framed by engraved border work that echoes the decoration below.
One face carries a finely engraved presentation inscription, which reads as a personal gift dated 11th July 1861. A matching tea caddy spoon is included, which suits the set for serving tea, sugar, or condiments depending on intended use – 1860.
* Used today as a tea caddy or keepsake box, it brings ceremony to the simple act of opening a lid.
