A Really Splendid Antique Victorian Biscuit Barrel by Mappin Brothers of London. The body is circular with a hinged domed lid and a sculptural swan finial serving as the handle. The exterior is decorated with fine engraved swags, beadwork borders, and an ornate central cartouche reserve. Twin lion-mask mounts with drop ring handles add strong classical detailing and give the piece a satisfying visual weight – circa 1880.
