A Rare and Unusual Antique Victorian China Spoon Warmer by Ridgways, dating from the late 19th century and produced in their richly coloured "Fantasia" pattern. Designed in the form of a stylised nautilus shell, this beautifully sculpted piece served both decorative and practical functions during elegant 19th-century dining.
Decorated in a bold Imari-style palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and gilded highlights, the piece exemplifies the period's fascination with exotic orientalism and domestic refinement. The Ridgways Royal Semi Porcelain backstamp confirms its Staffordshire origin – circa 1890.
* Spoon warmers gained popularity during the mid-to-late Victorian era, when dining etiquette and tableware were at their most elaborate.
