A Rare Antique Victorian Combination Case combining two essential functions of the era - a vesta (match safe) and a cigarette holder - into one elegant pocket accessory. Crafted in silver-plate with intricate hand-engraved floral and scroll motifs, it’s as much a conversation piece as it is a relic of a more ceremonious time.
The larger interior chamber was designed to carry slender cigarettes, offering portability with panache. The smaller chamber would hold matches, and the ribbed striking surface is subtly built into the case for convenience and discretion – circa 1880.
Measurements:
Length (closed): 6" (approx. 15cm)
Width: 2 1/2" (approx. 7cm)
Total weight: 296g
In good condition – Light wear and patina appropriate for age; engraving remains crisp and striking. Sliding mechanism functions well. Interior compartments clean and structurally sound.
