A Nice Pair of Antique Georgian Sterling Silver & Mahogany Wine Coasters. Each features a finely pierced sterling silver gallery with a bright, polished finish and a classic gadroon border. The turned mahogany bases are rich in tone and texture, finished with green felt undersides to protect your surfaces. An engraved armorial crest of a boars head on each coaster adds a noble flourish, suggesting past use in a distinguished household. The original hallmarks are very worn. However, the ‘Georgian Mark’ indicating the date, and the ‘Leopards Head’ for London are visible – circa 1800.
