A Nice Pair of Victorian Liquor Cups with clear glass bodies and sterling silver mounts. Each cup is formed as a small cylindrical tumbler seated within a substantial sterling silver sleeve.
The silverwork is richly modelled with a continuous figural and landscape frieze, creating a narrative band around each vessel. The decoration includes stylised figures, animals and trees, framed by scrolling foliate borders typical of late Victorian taste. Hallmarked for London, 1889.
* The fabulously decorated sterling sleeves read like miniature scenes in relief, designed to be admired as they are used.
Measurements:
Height: 1 3/4" (approx. 4.5cm)
Diameter (across top): 1 1/8" (approx. 3cm)
Total weight: 68g
In good condition – Both cups present well overall, with crisp detail remaining in the figural relief and scrolling borders. There is light surface wear and gentle rubbing to raised areas, consistent with age and careful use. There are no chips or cracks to the glass. Hallmarks are clear.
