A Lovely Antique Sterling Silver Cotton Holder with Pierced Floral Scrollwork. Marked ‘Sterling Silver’ on the base. This lovely Sterling Silver Cotton Holder would have been attached to a chatelaine. In the 18th and 19th centuries, women (especially housekeepers or well-to-do ladies managing a household) often wore a chatelaine — a decorative belt hook or clasp with chains used to hold useful household tools.
