An attractive antique Iraqi silver box dating to circa 1900, of circular form with a fitted lift-off lid. The lid is decorated with a detailed architectural scene in contrasting dark niello-style decoration, while a continuous landscape of buildings, palm trees, boats and waterside scenes runs around the sides.
The silver exterior contrasts beautifully with the warm golden-toned interior, and the fine scenic detail gives this little box plenty of character. A charming piece for storing small keepsakes or displaying as part of a collection of antique silver.
