An attractive pair of Victorian silver plated sauce dishes, dating to circa 1890, complete with two matching ladles featuring gilt bowls. Each dish has a deep, rounded body with an elegantly shaped, irregular scalloped rim, giving the pair a distinctive and decorative appearance.
The two dishes are joined by a tall, gracefully arched carrying handle, with flowing curves incorporated into its design. The sculptural quality of the handle is particularly appealing, with its intertwined forms adding an artistic element to the otherwise simple, polished dishes.
We especially like the way the handle becomes a decorative feature in its own right, bringing a sense of movement and character to the whole piece. Ideal for serving sauces, condiments or accompaniments at the dining table, this charming Victorian set is equally attractive as a display piece.
