An elegant sterling silver and glass claret jug dated London 2004, combining a generously rounded glass body with a tall, slender neck and substantial solid silver fittings. The glass is cut with sweeping vertical facets that follow the curves of the body, creating a particularly effective play of light, while the large faceted glass stopper continues the sculptural form.
The sterling silver collar forms a gently shaped pouring lip and is complemented by a long, gracefully curved handle extending down the side of the jug. An engraved monogram decorates the front of the silver collar, adding an attractive personal detail without distracting from the clean proportions of the piece.
With its traditional decanter form and impressive stopper, this claret jug would make a distinctive addition to a drinks cabinet or dining table, equally suited to serving wine or simply displayed amongst a collection of silver and glass.
