Antique Pair of Silver Plated Ornate Candlesticks circa 1920

An impressive pair of antique Silver Plated candlesticks, dating to circa 1920. Each is raised on a substantial shaped square base with bold relief decoration of scrolling foliage and flowers, surrounding a polished central section that rises into a tall, tapering stem. The repeated ornamental collars give the pair a particularly rich and architectural appearance.

The upper sections are fitted with shaped square sconces decorated to match the bases, framing the candle sockets with further floral and foliate detail. The combination of smooth polished surfaces and deeply modelled decoration creates plenty of contrast, while the tall proportions give the candlesticks considerable presence when displayed together.

A decorative pair for a dining table, mantelpiece or sideboard, with a strong Victorian character and an elaborate design that is attractive from every angle.
