Vintage Silver Plated Ice Bucket with Amber Glass Liner and Hinged Lid – circa 1960

An unusual vintage silver plated ice bucket with a substantial cylindrical body, fitted amber-coloured glass liner and hinged domed lid. The body has a restrained, elegant appearance, standing on a stepped circular foot with simple moulded borders around the base and upper rim.

A tall arched swing handle is mounted at the sides and linked to the lid by a slender central arm, giving the piece a particularly interesting profile when both open and closed. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the amber glass liner, whose rich warm colour contrasts particularly well with the bright silver plated exterior. We particularly like this combination of practical construction and understated design.

This is an unusual form for us to come across and would make an attractive addition to a drinks cabinet or home bar, as well as being a practical piece for serving ice when entertaining – circa 1960.

In good condition – The silver plate shows only light surface wear consistent with age and gentle use. There are no chips or cracks to the glass.
