Antique Victorian Sterling Silver & Cut Glass Match Striker – London, 1894

An Antique Victorian Match Striker combining a substantial cut glass body with a sterling silver mounted collar. The rounded glass body is decorated throughout with closely spaced diagonal cutting, producing an attractive textured surface. This deeply cut exterior was both decorative and practical, providing a suitable surface against which period matches could be struck.

A circular silver-lined aperture occupies the centre and was designed to hold matches conveniently at the table, desk or fireside. Hallmarked for London, 1894.

In good condition – The silver shows only light surface wear consistent with age and gentle use. There are no chips or cracks to the glass.
