Antique Victorian Silver Plated Biscuit Barrel With Lion Masks – circa 1880

A Nice Antique Victorian Silver Plated Biscuit Barrel engraved with scrolling foliate ornament, geometric borders and repeated stylised floral motifs. A shaped central cartouche provides an attractive focal point to the front and remains unengraved.

The barrel is fitted with substantial ring handles suspended from finely modelled lion mask mounts at either side. A domed hinged lid is finished with delicate engraved decoration and an ornate raised finial – circa 1880.

* Placed on a sideboard, drinks cabinet or dining table, the piece brings the character of nineteenth-century tableware into a contemporary interior!
