A Fantastic Antique Victorian Silver Plated Four Piece Tea and Coffee Service richly decorated in an elaborate late Victorian or Rococo Revival style. The set comprises of a teapot, a taller coffee or hot-water pot, a twin-handled sugar bowl and a matching milk or cream jug.
Each piece is profusely ornamented with scrolling foliage, flowers, shells and finely worked decorative panels. Both covered pots are surmounted by charming bird-form finials, giving the service a particularly distinctive character.
The teapot is further enhanced by an expressive bird or swan-like spout with finely modelled feather detail. Each vessel is raised on ornate mask-form feet, with sculptural faces framed by scrolling foliate decoration - circa 1870.
