A Lovely Antique Victorian Claret Jug that combines a finely cut glass body with silver-plated mounts and a hinged cover. The substantial glass vessel is decorated with star-cut motifs, arched panels, diagonal cutting and vertical fluting.
A silver-plated collar surrounds the neck and is finished with narrow beaded borders. The shaped pouring spout is decorated with a bold fan or shell motif beneath its rim. Marked for the renowned makers ‘William Hutton and Sons’ - circa 1880.
* Used for claret, water or cordial, the jug offers both practical service and strong decorative presence.
