Antique Victorian Silver-Plated Embossed and Engraved Biscuit Barrel – circa 1880

A Nice Antique Victorian Silver-Plated Oval Biscuit Barrel. The exterior is richly embossed and engraved with floral sprays, scrolling foliage and shell-form ornament. A broad decorative band around the upper body incorporates fan-like motifs beneath a beaded border.

The lower section is finished with further engraved floral and foliate decoration arranged around a small vacant cartouche. The hinged lid is centred by a raised finial and surrounded by a coordinating wreath of flowers and scrollwork. A rope-twist style border frames both the lid and the outer edge of the stand – circa 1880.
