A Lovely Pair of Antique Victorian Silver Plated Entrée Dishes in a formal Neoclassical Revival design with strong architectural proportions. The stepped covers are finished with substantial rectangular handles framed by reeded ornament. The borders feature pronounced gadrooned detailing that gives the dishes a crisp and substantial appearance.
The lower sections are formed as removable serving dishes with broad polished interiors. The covers may also be inverted for use as additional serving dishes when their handles are removed – circa 1890.
