A Really Superb Antique Edwardian Brass Letter Rack formed from a series of cast brass scallop shells arranged vertically on a wooden backboard. The brass shells are deeply modelled with radiating ribs, layered edges and textured recessed detailing.
Each shell projects forward to create a separate compartment suitable for letters, notes, postcards or even old photographs. The backboard has a gently shaped upper edge and a slightly bevelled lower edge. A hanging aperture is located near the upper section of the backboard for wall display – circa 1905.
* The contrast between polished brass and dark wood gives this piece a particularly warm and substantial appearance!
