A Stunning Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Christening Spoon of a really good silver weight featuring a richly embossed bowl and an elaborately decorated handle. The oval bowl is worked with raised leaves. The scalloped edge follows the naturalistic outline of the floral design. The handle is formed with twisted stem sections and applied floral details. The broad terminal is decorated with flowers, foliage and scrolling motifs in pronounced relief. The overall design reflects the ornate naturalistic taste associated with the Victorian period. Hallmarked for London, 1846.
