An interesting English mahogany document box from the ship the HMS President. The box has a hinged front which when folded back reveals 5 document shelves. Has original paper labels inside lid including one that reads Keep smiling your turn will come. We have been assured by the seller that this IS from the HMS President however we do not have documentation to prove this. The HMS President originally named the HMS Saxifrage started her life escorting convoys in the UK during the 1918 war and was later renamed President after the Old President of 1829 and was employed as a Royal Navy Reserve drill ship from 1922. The ship was used until 1988 and eventually scrapped in 1995. Circa 1918. Worldwide first class tracked and signed for delivery is included in the price.
