A French Push-Top Salt Cellar with an etched glass body and a silver-mounted lid and base. The lid is operated by a spring-loaded push plunger, designed to open the base for dispensing the contents. The glass is decorated with frosted floral designs, giving a soft, decorative contrast.
The silver mount at the shoulder is finished with a beaded rim that frames the top neatly. A silver foot with a leaf-and-scroll border adds weight and a distinctly decorative finish. This type of covered salt was made to keep salt dry and presentable between courses – circa 1920.
* It sits beautifully among other antique dining accessories, from mustards to cruets.
