Field Marshal Earl Haig’s Silver Topped Inkstand. This inkstand is cut glass with a solid silver top. The silver top is Hallmarked for London, 1893. The neck of the silver top is engraved with:

 

‘In Remembrance: Field Marshal Earl Haig’s Inkstand.

Given to Marshal Sir Hugh Trenchard,

by Lady Haig’

 

*Would be interesting to discover whether this ink stand was actually taken to the battlefields of France and Belgium during the First World War. More research would be needed!

Height: 4" (approx. 10cm)

Diameter of base: 4 1/4" (approx. 11cm)

Total weight: 996g

 

In good condition –there are no chips or cracks to the glass. There is a small dent to the edge of the silver top, as shown in photographs for accuracy.
