A Really Fabulous Pair of Neoclassical Silver Plated Candlesticks in a classical column form with crisp vertical fluting. Each candlestick is topped with a broad, shaped drip pan designed to catch wax and protect the table surface. The upper collars are richly worked with foliate ornament, adding depth and a sense of traditional craftsmanship.
The stems have banded detailing that breaks the fluting and gives the design a well-balanced proportion. Both stand on substantial square bases with bold beaded borders. The bases are also embellished in relief with scrolling foliage and floral garlands, giving the pair strong visual presence – circa 1870.
