A Distinctive Pair of Antique Victorian Silver-Plated Coasters, each with turned wooden bases and inset silver-plated bosses, designed to hold and present wine bottles or decanters elegantly at a table. The flared sides are engraved with a continuous border of scrolling vine leaves and tendrils – a design perfectly suited to the purpose of holding wine – and the rims are decorated with a repeating twist and beaded border that frames the piece with texture. Marked for the renowned makers ‘Mappin Brothers – Queens Cutlery Works, London’ – circa 1870.

In good condition – Bright, clean surfaces with crisp engraving and minimal wear. The wooden bases are well-preserved, showing expected light use but no warping. Excellent overall condition, ready for both functional use and display.
