A Nice Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Vesta Case with Engraved Scrollwork. The rectangular case features a striking, all-over hand-engraved scrollwork design, typical of the period, executed with fine attention to detail. At the centre of the front face is a vacant shield-shaped cartouche, perfect for engraving if desired, though it remains unpersonalised - a lovely feature for collectors or gift-givers.
The vesta opens with a secure hinged lid, which closes tightly with a satisfying snap, and reveals a clean interior. The striker is located along the base edge, showing gentle use consistent with age. The hinge remains in very good working condition, opening smoothly and holding the lid firmly closed.
