An Unusual Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Mounted Glass Travelling Jar with screw down lid. The sterling silver lid is engine-turned with a finely textured ground and a plain circular reserve suitable for initials. The glass body is vertically faceted, catching light cleanly and giving the jar a crisp architectural look. This travel jar would have been a part of a top quality gentlemen’s travel box. Hallmarked for London, 1866.
* On a dressing table, it reads as a small luxury object rather than simple storage.
