This is a charming antique Victorian nutcracker formed as a standing dog with a long, curved tail handle. The dog’s head is modelled with a rounded muzzle and carved-style fur texture across the body. A hinged jaw opens at the mouth, creating the nutcracking chamber at the front. The elongated tail functions as the operating lever, giving good mechanical advantage for cracking nuts. Marked with the registration number ‘273480’ for the year 1896.
* A working nutcracker disguised as a faithful little dog, with the tail doing the hard work.
