A Nice Pair of Antique Edwardian Silver Plated Openwork Salts with cranberry glass liners and two small salt spoons. Each salt is formed as a low oval cellaret on four ball feet, giving a poised and slightly elevated stance on the table. The pierced outer galleries have an all-over scrolling trellis and foliate motif. The glass inserts lift out for ease of cleaning and for practical use at table. The spoon bowls are gilt washed, to help protect them from the corrosive effects of salt – circa 1905.
* The contrast of cool silver plate against cranberry glass gives these salts a quietly luxurious presence on the table.
