A finely crafted early 20th-century English biscuit Barrel, featuring a richly patterned cut-glass body and hallmarked sterling silver mount and lid. The clear glass body is of generous rounded form, deeply moulded with arched vertical panels, each decorated with crisply cut stylised motifs including crosshatching and fan forms.
The design evokes a fusion of neoclassical and early Art Nouveau influence, with a strong sense of movement across the surface. The silver mount is sleek and restrained, creating an elegant frame for the jar’s organic decoration. The fitted domed lid is topped with a polished knop finial, and both the mount and lid are fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1896.
