A Nice Antique Chinese Blue and White Covered Jar featuring a delicately painted bird surrounded by flowering branches, fruiting sprays, and foliage. Likely produced during the late Qing Dynasty, this piece blends traditional symbolism with elegant utility. The rounded shape and snug-fitting lid make it an excellent example of functional artistry, perfect for display or gentle use.
This jar features small raised white knobs on its surface - an intentional decorative technique used to add texture and dimension to the design. These applied slip dots were carefully hand-formed before glazing and are often found on traditional blue and white wares. Far from being flaws, these details reflect the artistry and symbolic richness of Qing-era porcelain decoration.
* Originally used for storing tea, herbs, or spices, this piece is well-suited for modern use as a trinket box, spice jar, or simply as decorative porcelain.
